Long Island Conference II Football Championship between the Garden City Trojans of Nassau County and the Newfield Wolverines of Selden in Suffolk County on Friday evening November 25th at Hofstra University's Shuart Stadium. The Wolverines, who were making their first ever appearance in the LIC, entered the game as the underdog but with a tremendous amount of confidence after defeating three higher-seeded Suffolk programs en route to the school’s first county championship. The Trojans, under head coach Tom Flatley, were making their third straight LIC appearance (12th overall appearance), winning the title in 2009 but losing to Bellport in 2010. Newfield (9-3) held a 7-0 lead at halftime after a one yard Michael Silva touchdown run. Newfield was the first team to hold Garden City scoreless in the first half but a pass-interference call against the Wolverines combined with a horse-collar penalty allowed the Garden City offense to come alive on its first possession of the second half. Garden City's Mark Ellis eluded a multitude of defenders as he ran 6 yards through the middle for a touchdown with 5:54 left in the third to tie it at 7. Newfield went ahead 14-7 early in the fourth quarter when Julian Santiago ran for, what turned out to be, the winning touchdown as the Wolverines went on to win 14-7
