Story:
The Jericho Jayhawks boys varsity soccer team continued its undefeated season with a 2-0 victory over the Garden City Trojans on Wednesday afternoon October 10th on the turf at the Trojans' Warren King Field. The Jayhawks, the defending New York State Champions, took a 1-0 lead in the first half of the game and scored an insurance goal at 25:25 in the second half. Jericho's Derek Medolla and Barry Sharifi each scored a goal to lead the Jayhawks (8-0-0, 9-0-1 overall) in Conference A-IV. Medolla's goal came 6:28 in when Zach Cohen threw a line-drive all the way to the opposite side of the goal that bounced off Medolla's chest and into the back of the net. It is Medolla's eighth goal of the season, which leads the conference. Ari Lewis had seven saves in the shutout. Michael Blumberg also had an assist for Jericho. Senior Tyler Biscone was in goal for the Trojans for the first half and made one save. Rob Wotczak took over in the second half and made seven saves for Garden City. The Trojans (3-3-2 in their conference and 3-4-4 overall) will travel to Roslyn to take on the Bulldogs on Friday night October 12th.
