South Side Defeats Garden City 1-0 in Nassau girls soccer semi final

The Garden City Trojans girls soccer team is the defending New York State Champion and in 2010, on their way to the state title, the Trojans had to get past perennial powerhouse South Side High School of Rockville Centre. When GC defeated South Side for the Nassau title it was a huge victory that South Side did not forget. On Saturday evening, November 5th, at Michael J. Tully Park in Garden City Park, the two teams met for a Nassau County semifinal game. South Side scored within the opening minutes of the game. That goal ended up being the game winner as South Side won the game 1-0. South Side advances to play in the finals against the winner of No.1 Division vs. No. 5 Plainedge on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Denton Ave. Garden City finishes up its season with an overall record of 9-3-5.
