The Garden City Trojans boys varsity soccer team played host to the Westbury Green Dragons on Wednesday afternoon, October 17th on the turf at Warren King Field. Starting in goal for the Trojans was senior Tyler Biscone. In goal for the Green Dragons was Jovany Cerna. Garden City controlled the ball for the majority of the first half, and took numerous shots, but the score remained 0-0 as the first half came to an end. The second half of the game was much like the first, with the Trojans dominating play. With the sun starting to set, and time in the game winding down, Garden City had a goal called off due to an offsides call. But the Trojans came right back and with 7:52 left in the second half, junior Jack Gillan put GC on the board. 3 1/2 minutes later junior Greg Vouzinas gave the Trojans an insurance goal to put the team up 2-0. With only minutes left, the Green Dragons had a scoring attempt thwarted as Biscone was challenged by Westbury's Nelson Majano but Biscone went high above Majano and grabbed the ball to preserve the shutout for the Trojans. Biscone ended the game with five saves. Derek Attardi assisted on a GC goal. Westbuy's Cerna made 12 saves in goal.
