Homecoming at Garden City High School-The Garden City Trojans varsity football team played host to the South Side Cyclones of Rockville Centre on Saturday afternoon October 26th at Warren King Field.  The Trojans were playing in front of a standing room only homecoming crowd and jumped out to a 14-0 lead just 4 minutes into the game. Garden City's first score came as senior quarterback Brett Stewart hit Tom Wright, who ran a fly pattern down the middle, for a 34-yard touchdown pass with 8:18 left in the first quarter.  Twelve seconds later, Matt Greene intercepted a South Side pass and returned it 15 yards for the Trojans second touchdown of the game. The Trojans scored on their next four possessions and went on to beat the Cyclones 42-7. Dan Confort, a Garden City sophomore, broke a 50-yard TD run with 8:57 left in the third for his first varsity touchdown and added a sack minutes later. Garden City will travel to Elmont next Saturday, November 2nd to take on the Spartans. The Cyclones will travel to Merrick to take on the Calhoun Colts for a 3pm game, also on Saturday November 2nd.
