Garden City Trojans Varsity Baseball Team Defeats Wantagh Warriors 4-3

On Tuesday afternoon, April 1st, the Garden City Trojans varsity baseball team played host to the Wantagh Warriors in the second game of a Nassau Conference A-I three game series. The Trojans won the first meeting by a score of 3-1. In that game, Tom Zwicke hit a two-run double with two outs in the top of the eighth to lead Garden City (3-1-1) in the win. David Butler tossed a complete game with nine strikeouts and two hits allowed. In Tuesday's game, the Trojans won 4-3. Garden City senior pitcher Brian LoRusso got the win. (no further info given as of the posting of these photos) The teams will meet again on April 3rd at Wantagh High School for the third game of the series. The Garden City Trojans are coached by Rich Smith with assistants Charlie Menges and Mike Sweeney. The roster includes: Nayeem Baksh, David Butler, John Cauchi, Bobby Clarke, Victor Danza, Owen Fisher, Ryan Giacini, Nick Giannone, Zack Kolsen, Brian LoRusso, Richie Mattone, Tom Rocco, Matt Rogers, Justin Samardich, Nick Sampogne, Ryan Smith, Troy Sorensen, Joe Trapasso, Thomas VanWallendael, Steve Wald, and Thomas Zwicke.
